Welcome to my blog

my favorite color is green,
according to some people, i love peanut butter a little too much, but i think i like it just right,
pinot noir is my favorite wine (we affectionately call it Black Peanut),
if i could get paid in wine and peanut butter, i would,
i love the beach, therefore, i live at it,
i like big dogs, therefore have two of them,
i like to surf (long boards rule!),
i dig music, and play the guitar when i have time,
i love to cook.

I hope you enjoy looking at my work. Feel free to cruise around my blog, and let me know if you have any questions about anything at all.

Cheers,

Jerry

…quick photo tip…

For those of you with kids, while I never say never, I’ll say, rarely should you shoot down on your kids. I see it all the time and it freaks me out. You have knees, use them. Get down at their level and take the shot. Always get down at eye level with them, and your photos will look so much better. This is something that anyone can do with any kind of camera. And, it’s super easy.

I hope you enjoyed this quick and simple photo tip. :)

Oh, and don’t forget to file today.

…amazon.com, and other things…

my birthday was pretty recent, in case anyone didn’t know. for some pleasurable reading about this, refer to this link: http://www.jerryfrazierphotography.com/blog/personal/april-7-2008/. What got me thinking about this, besides the fact that it’s probably the biggest event in the USA, maybe the world, is how much I love Amazon.com.

Wedding Photographer, Jerry Frazier, Long Beach, California

One thing that I’ve recently discovered is that you can order items on subscription. Now, normally this wouldn’t be a big deal, right? However, I discovered that you can order coffee, and have it delivered on whatever schedule you set. When I found that, it blew me away. No more waking up on a Saturday morning, and no coffee.

Sometimes life throws curve balls at you, and other times it just gently lobs golden apples into your hands.

Cheers,

…first day of a daily blogger…

…by the title, you know where i’m going with this. so, i’ve been a bad, bad blogger. i have commited myself to blogging once a day for the next month. i didn’t want to start on april 1st for obvious reasons. so, instead, i’m starting today. we’ll see if i can actually make it. i’ll need support, so cheer me on and get me through this. whew! ok, so for the first in a series of either super boring or super interesting blog posts, ha, i’m going to provide an awesome and very interesting and compelling article for the movie i saw over the weekend. so, on saturday, i took the kids to go see “how to train your dragon”.

typically, when i go to these movies, i fall asleep pretty quickly. maybe it’s the rush of peanut m&m’s followed by the sugar crash. i don’t know. but, i didn’t fall asleep through this one. i was awake and alert through the whole thing. funny, though, jemma fell asleep through the middle part, and then woke up and said, “dad, this is a good movie, huh?”. i thought that was cute.

anyway, for me, the movie was a little predictable, in that, you sort of knew the kid would get in trouble, and then save the day in the end. but, having said that, it was super enjoyable. the kids loved it, especially andrew. there were some folks with a real small kids that got scared. there are some violent parts, and it could be pretty scary for a small kid. but, you kind of have to figure out how your kid is with things like that. jemma thought it was a little scary, but it didn’t seem to phase andrew at all.

i really dug the 3d effects too. i’m kind of a sucker for that stuff and i love all the new 3d movies coming out now. i am convinced that this is the new movie format for the future. although, we may read this blog 10 years from now and laugh. that’s ok. i’m not above laughing at myself.

i also like the scottish accents. not sure why they chose a small island in scotland, maybe having to do with folklore? i don’t know. but, i liked it.

for what it is, i give “how to train your dragon” 4 stars out of 5. it’s a great afternoon with the kids, or maybe grab a kid from your friends as an excuse to go see it.

lastly, but not least, today is jemma’s birthday, so give her a shout out. she’s 6 today. Yay!

that’s it for now. maybe i’ll post tomorrow, maybe i wont. we’ll see.

cheers,

jerry frazier

…baseball season has officially started…

…it’s that time of year. i couldn’t be more excited. andrew started baseball for the first time. fortunately, he loves it and started his season with a great game. unfortunately, for the cubs, it wasn’t so great, but someone has to win and someone has to lose. he had a tough year of soccer last season, so i think it was good that they had a good game; especially for the first one. of course, dad took lots of pics.

Here he is in his new uniform…

I love this sign. Good for them.

He swings, and the ball kind of flubs between him and the pitcher…

He runs for it, as the pitcher tries to throw him out. But, the first baseman dropped the ball and Andrew was safe.

He went on to steal second base. And then the next hitter got a double and Andrew ran to home. Their victory was deserved, as they played well.

I may possibly show more pics of baseball this year, than of weddings. There are a lot more games to come. So, stay tuned.

Andrew would love it if you leave a comment on this blog for him.

Thanks much!

…snow day…

…this might sound strange to some of you, but i decided to take my kids up to the snow yesterday because they had never seen it before. they had no idea what snow was. they were surprised at how “hard and crunchy” it is. they thought it would be soft. we spent a good 2 hours driving up to the snow from long beach. after about 15 minutes playing and sledding, there was a major head bonking incident between my daughter and my friends daughter, and the day pretty much ended after that. lesson learned: find a slope where it has a long flat ending spot so you don’t have to intervene and stop the sled. now i know. but, we did manage to stay a little bit longer and build a small snowman, and just kind of hang out. then, they got pretty tired. i have to admit that i was feeling pretty tired too. we ran up and down the slope many times, and the snow was a good 12″ or so deep, so it took a lot of work to walk around.

after a 2 hour drive back home, they said it was the best day of their lives. lol…

…after we got home, the friends came over a played together the rest of the night. so, all ended well…
